Yes. Other people's work runs inside an isolated sandbox (a locked-down Docker container) that cannot see your files, your games, or the rest of your PC. It has no special privileges and is walled off from your home network. You can pause it or remove it completely with one command at any time.
It only takes work when your machine is idle, and you stay in control of when it runs. You set (or auto-price) your hourly rate, and the ROI calculator shows your earnings after electricity so you can see the real number before you start.
They can't use your connection freely. Jobs are network-locked: a firewall on your machine blocks them from your local network and the internet except for what a job openly declares, and batch jobs get no network at all. The work is sandboxed and attributed, not run loose on your IP.
Everything lands in one balance. Withdraw anytime or on a weekly schedule, by bank transfer, USDC, or gift card. Earnings clear after a short hold, and — because this is real money — withdrawing requires a quick one-time identity check, as regulation requires.

You pay by the hour, and every GPU is shown against public cloud prices before you commit, so you can see the saving. You add funds to a wallet and the cost comes out as you run.
Petabyte is a real company (Petabyte, Inc., operated from Riyadh). Every machine must cryptographically prove what GPU it actually has before it can earn — unverified nodes are labeled as such. We publish a security policy with a bug-bounty channel, a refunds policy, and live status and metrics.
